Association President Submits Memo on General Secretary’s Suspension

Date:

Qadian, September 25 (Salam Tari) — The State President of the Punjab Education Department Ministerial Staff (Sub Office) Association, Sarabjit Singh Digra, met with DPI Secondary Gurinder Singh Sodhi today to submit a memorandum regarding the suspension of General Secretary Gurpreet Singh Khatra.

Digra stated that Khatra was suspended for holding an unauthorized state-level meeting in Moga district, which was conducted without approval from the State Chairman Sanjeev Kumar Kalra, President Digra, and State Executive President Rajdeep Gupta.

According to the Association, during the Moga meeting, Khatra allegedly formed a new state committee, violating the organization’s constitution. The State Executive Committee subsequently dismissed/suspended Khatra from the General Secretary post in response to widespread opposition from most Punjab districts.

The Association demanded that the DPI not grant any recognition or meeting time to the faction led by Khatra, as the legally recognized and already existing union’s status (under letter No. 1807-3/16431 dated 26/03/1958) is still valid, and only the General Secretary has been suspended, not the entire body. The Association warned that recognizing the new faction would send a “wrong message” and would be strongly opposed.

Digra further informed the DPI that the Association’s State Executive will soon hold a meeting to elect a new General Secretary and will officially inform the DPI by October 10, 2025, about who will represent the union going forward. They requested that no meeting time be given to any faction until that clarificSuspension
