Maulana K. Tariq Ahmad, spokesperson for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community India, issued a press release stating that the community strongly condemns the recent terrorist attack that took place during prayer time at Masjid Mehdi in Rabwah, Pakistan.
He shared that His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the worldwide head and Fifth Caliph of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, has condemned the attack and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said in his address that although the government of Pakistan and the Chief Minister of Punjab claim to have completely eradicated crime from the province, the repeated attacks on Ahmadis—resulting in their martyrdom, injuries, and destruction of property—apparently are not considered crimes.
According to initial reports, an armed assailant opened fire on members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community who were standing outside the mosque to ensure the safety of worshippers. Several Ahmadis were shot and injured; at least two sustained serious injuries, while others received minor wounds. Security personnel killed the attacker before he could enter the mosque and harm more innocent people.
This tragic incident comes amid a long and deliberate history of persecution and violence against the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Pakistan, where discriminatory laws have deprived its members of basic civil and religious rights. Ahmadis are legally prohibited from identifying as Muslims or openly practicing their faith, and they are frequently subjected to hate-driven campaigns and violent assaults.
Rabwah city serves as the administrative headquarters of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Pakistan. According to the statement, five to six young members of the community were critically injured in the attack and are currently under medical treatment. Prayers were also offered for their full and speedy recovery.
